What a beautiful, sweet, smart, and loving little girl! Ben and I are so blessed to have Makayla in our lives. She is going to start preschool next week. As hard as it is to see her go I know she is ready for it. She is so excited and ready to move on to bigger and better things. She has grown up so fast and I just love her more and more every day. Stay tuned next week for pictures of her first day of preschool!!!
As many of you know the little stuffed dog she is holding is Clifford. He is her best friend. She still sleeps with him every night and always goes to Clifford for comfort. He is extra special to Makayla because her birthmother gave him to her when she was born.

Bad Egg

The other day the original Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was on tv. Makayla had seen the new one but not the old one so she was really excited to watch it. Yesterday she did something and I put her in time out. She was so mad at me and was yelling the whole time in time out saying, "Mommy, you're a bad egg! You are just a bad egg." It took me only a second to realize that she was calling me a bad egg from the movie. You know the part in the old one where Veruca wants a goose that lays the golden egg. When Wonka won't give it to her she climbs on the stand and it shows that she is a bad egg and dumps her in the garbage shute. So that is what my little princess was calling me... a bad egg. Ben and I started laughing at this. Afterward she apologized not only for what she had done that got her in time out but also for calling me a bad egg. What a funny girl she is!!!

Our Trip to Virginia City

Our family loves to take day trips. Every few weekends we find a place to explore and take off. This past weekend it was time for Virginia City. Makayla was soooooo excited to ride the train. Poor little Kyle wasn't feeling very well but he was a trooper. What great kids we have!!!
Makayla couldn't believe that she was actually on a train. Her favorite part was the "golden ticket." She was actually free and didn't have a ticket but Ben gave her one of ours. She held that thing throughout the whole ride. At one point it fell out the window but luckily we were stopped and a nice cowboy picked it up for her. When we left the train she told me that she wanted to tell him thank you. Sure enough when we got to the cowboy she said, "Thanks for getting my ticket for me!" Where did my shy little girl go?Kyle enjoyed the train ride too!!!It was a lot of fun for the whole family.Next it was up to the city to look around in the shops. It was quite the climb up the steep streets. I pushed the stroller and Makayla got a great ride from daddy.
Overall it was a great day. Our kids were great and we had a lot of fun. The best part of the trip was we got to come home that evening and sleep in our own beds. I love day trips!!!

...and I'm back!!!

As some of you may already know I had surgery last week. No worries I just needed to get some of my endometriosis cleaned out of me. My mom was able to come for the week and watch the kids while I had the surgery and then afterwards while I recovered. I don't know what we would have done without her!!!! I was in a lot more pain than I thought I'd be and it took a while longer to get back to normal than my past surgeries have. Thank goodness for my mom. The kids loved her. I was worried about Kyle since he only ever has Ben and me to take care of him but he was great with her. It was so nice to be able to just sleep in my room knowing that my two precious children were in the best of hands. I know my mom was pretty worn out at the end of the week. Too bad, I could have used her for this week too!!!!! Thanks again mom for all your help! You are the greatest mom in the whole wide world!! We love you!!!! (Makayla asks me about 50 times a day when we are going to your house!!!)

My Baby Is Three Months Old!!!

Kyle is now three months old and we can't believe it. Time has just flown by. He has grown up so much in these three months. He is now starting to lift his head up a little. He can grab things and put them in his mouth. His favorite thing to grab is Makayla and my hair! Owww!!! He smiles all the time and is staring to laugh now. He also loves to talk. It is so cute to hear his little voice. He loves feeding off Ben and me when we are talking to him. One of these days we will get it on video. One of the best things about Kyle is that he is almost sleeping through the night. He is down to waking up only once at night and it is usually around 4:30am or 5:00am so we are getting about seven hours of sleep. It is wonderful!!!Makayla loves her brother more and more every day. She loves playing with him and kissing him and helping with him and anything else that has to do with Kyle. Her favorite time of the day is Kyle's bathtime. Kyle gets a bath everyday and everyday without fail he pees in the tub. Makayla thinks this is so funny and loves seeing it. Ben likes to call him Old Faithful. Kyle also loves his big sister. She will sing to him or dance for him and Kyle just watches her and smiles. They are going to be best friends. Now that Kyle is getting a little older a lot of people say that he looks like Makayla and me. I love that!!! He is such a part of our family. We love him so much and can't even imagine life without him. We are counting down the days until November when we can offically adopt him and take him to the temple to seal him to us forever. We can't wait to make our little Kyle a part of our family for eternity!!!
